Collaborative Workshops

Students benefit from working side-by-side with seasoned professionals

and are challenged to play at a very high level of music making.

 

 

During the 2006 Festival season, students, counselors, and faculty performed two masterworks of chamber literature: Igor Stravinsky's L'histoire du soldat (A Soldier's Tale), and Aaron Copland's Suite from Appalachian Spring.

During the 2007 Festival season, students worked with faculty to explore the percussion styles of Brazilian samba and folk forms as well as joining together to form a salsa band.  Musicians from Iraq and the Andes taught students about their respective musical traditions.

2008 Featured Arnold Schoenberg's song cycle Pierrot Lunaire as well as the inagural season of the Festival Experimental Music Ensemble, under the direction of Matthew Planchak.
